I'm Totally Telling What Everyone's Getting For Christmas

One week and counting.  Due to, ahem, financial restraints, a large part of this year's Christmas gifts will be homemade.  Thanks to my self-imposed rule of gifts being consumable, that means food.  Because I gave up candle making in the 70's and they can thank me later.

There are lots of food gifts that become clutter and maybe my gift will also, but I'm going to forge ahead with my fingers crossed and make the carmel corn I found at this blog,  http://orangette.blogspot.com/.  It looks totally yummy, just like something I would make.

Yup.

Not being a big fan of carmel corn I've never made it before.  This recipe, however, appeals to me because of the part where she says it's light and crisp.  Tomorrow I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

On a somewhat related note, when I established my recipe planning routine it was to specifically try a new recipe once a week.  This week we had scalloped potatoes and ham soup.  I kind of made it up, but I'm pretty confident I can do it again.

Now I'm feeling really smug because I'm trying two new recipes this week, the soup and carmel corn.  I'm an over achiever.

Life with new things to try and share is bliss.

Tricky Duck Tip:  For a great foodie read, the author of Orangette, Molly Wizenberg,  published a cookbook/memoir entitled "A Homemade LIfe:  Stories and Recipes From My Kitchen Table".  It's intensely personal and demonstrates how the food in the author's life creates landmarks.  I dug it.
